#10 Reflected Daisy & Orchid
My father is no longer a part of this world; however, his teachings remain etched in my mind. One of his strictest rules in our family household was that I never use profane language in front of my mother or sister, nor in front of any other lady. Fortunately for me, there were no ladies present when I photographed this image, because it stretched every ounce of patience that resides in my body.
While I have other images similar to this one , frustration and failure has always been the norm when trying to get a single droplet of water to attach to the underneath side of the orchid lip, and centered under the droplet balanced on the top side of the lip. I use the word balanced because the lip of the orchid seems to repel water. In fact, of the eleven orchids that I raise, this particular Phalaenopsis is the only one that produces flowers with a slight curl to the edge of the lip in which I can get a water droplet of any size to balance without shedding off the surface.
Well, I think you are starting to grasp the difficulties that I experienced producing this photograph. Be assured that the original transparency was not a result of computer manipulation... enjoy!
