#11 Sunlit Peaks

Anyone that travels the high country of Colorado knows that the Aspens generally start to change in the northern part of the state around the second or third week of September; color then advances south and is usually prime the last week of September into the first week of October.

When I arrived at my favorite place in the Four Corners the last week of September, color was very sparse to say the least. I figured the fall change was still a week off, so I headed for the Grand Canyon for a few days before returning to Colorado.

Color was still not anywhere close to prime around the Four Corners when I returned, but since I had commercial work scheduled back in Kansas City for the following week, I decided to backpack in and stay a few days.

I awoke the next morning and found that "Mother Nature" had blessed me with about five inches of snow. I scurried around gathering tripod and gear and was off in what was now twilight to find a composition to my liking. Even though I would have preferred bright yellow Aspens in this photo, I was blessed with snow clinging to the trees as light broke over the mountains... enjoy!
