#26 Shiprock & Clouds

In search of a strong composition that would portray the beauty of this massive rock which stretches nearly eighteen hundred feet towards the heavens, I spent the better portion of a day walking the perimeter of Shiprock, which is located just outside the town of Shiprock, New Mexico.

My selected vantage point came atop one of the two outstretched fins that protrude to the west and south of Shiprock. While great compositions abound around Shiprock, this location was my favorite, and when combined with the ever changing weather patterns for that region of the United States, a totally different look may at times be produced and captured on film within minutes of each exposure... enjoy!
