#31 Mossy Pond & Bluebonnets
If you read the story for #22, then you will know that I had two wonderful days of photography during the spring of 2002 in the Texas Hill Country. This little pond was only about one hundred yards from where I produced image #62, and while nothing out of the ordinary happened while photographing that image, image #31 was a little more adventuresome.
Even though I don't classify myself as a cowboy, I do know the different features between a cow and a bull -- won't go into explicit details, but I think you ge t the picture.
Well, as I was setting up to film this composition, I saw a huge cow with horns ambling my way. I was sure cows didn't have horns; however, as he came into full view, I could tell it was definitely a cow... big sigh of relief, especially since my only means of safety would be to climb a tree.
Moments after regaining my composure, I heard a snort directly behind me. I looked around and there was the biggest brahma bull I've ever seen... possibly because he was only about sixty feet away. When he lowered his head and pawed at the ground, I knew he was just about ready to charge, so I picked up my tripod with camera attached and set it close to a tree for some protection, and then moved to another tree in hopes that the bull would charge me and not bother my camera.
I looked back at that old bull that continued to stare at me, and after a few minutes, he simply turned around and headed for some cows grazing on a nearby ridge... enjoy!
