#48 Chilly Water
In the fall of 1998, I made a photo trip to Havasu Falls in Arizona and then proceeded to Colorado for the Aspen change. Contacts had informed me that the fall colors in Colorado were running about three weeks behind schedule, so I planned my arrival date for the first week of October.
After a week of successful shooting, I packed out of the mountains and headed for home. Late that night I pulled off on a gravel road and decided to sleep until dawn. Sleeping in my Jeep c ertainly doesn't get a high mark for comfort, but the sound coming from the stream that paralleled the gravel road, put me right to sleep.
That night temperatures dipped below freezing and the stream that had lullabied me to sleep was now a sight to behold. Splashing water had anchored to overhanging branches and as I searched to find the perfect image, my eyes became transfixed on two diagonal branches that were smack dab in the middle of the stream. My eyes scanned elsewhere, but I knew in my heart that my boots would soon be sitting by the stream without my warm toasty feet inside.
Now you know why I call this photograph - Chilly Water... enjoy!
