#49 Smoky Mountain Cabin
This little old cabin in the hills of the Smoky Mountains was once a home that sheltered a family from the elements. The park maintains the cabin and many other cabins that were built in this rugged valley around the turn of the century. It was a community, but not as we think of today. Most cabins were about a half mile apart, and the majority of families were related to each other in some manner.
If you visit the Smoky Mountains, be sure to visit one of the historic churches. Behind most churches is a grave yard -- if you read the tomb stones and the ages of the people when they departed this world, you will realize the struggles these early settlers faced... enjoy!
