#69 Totem Pole

This image was produced on the same day that I produced image number five in Monument Valley eleven years ago. I filed it away at the time and while going through past images this year, I pulled it from a photo sleeve disbelieving I had not included it with my portfolio.

I photographed this image that the Navajo Indians call Totem Pole just moments just after the sun broke the horizon and then headed for the shot across Monument Valley (photo #5) that will most likely always remain one of my favorites.

In this low resolution version of the image it may be hard to see, but beside the foreground bush and leading across the sand and up to the right of the image are tracks. The Navajo who was guiding me said they most likely were tracks of a Puma who are active at night.
